Honorary professor reappointment at University of otago

I was delighted to receive confirmation this week of my reappointment as an Honorary Professor at the University of Otago.

After 30+ years’ association with the university, I was appointed Honorary Professor for one year (2023-2024) when I moved to Griffith University in April 2023. This honorary appointment has now been extended for three years to June 2027.

My affiliation is with the Department of Tourism (Otago Business School) and Centre for Sustainability (School of Geography) which is very exciting because Geography at Otago is where it all started for me as a PhD student (1992-1995).

While now at Griffith University, I am still heavily involved in research at Otago, most notably the MBIE Endeavour Programme (2024-2028) with colleagues in the School of Computing.

This appointment makes it easier for me to continue my work with friends and colleagues in Ōtepoti and to support graduate students and colleagues across the university in various ways. The University and Dunedin are important parts of my academic life and I am very grateful for formal confirmation of this continuing affiliation.
